Telangana Jagruthi President K Kavitha today alleged that both the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS had failed to fulfil their respective responsibilities.
Speaking to the media, Kavitha said, "There are no political parties truly advocating for the people. That's why we are stepping in to address these issues. Telangana Jagruthi has taken up the task of questioning the government on various matters."
Kavitha accused the government of inflating the cost of constructing the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital, and alleged that the project cost rose from Rs 1,100 crore to Rs 1,700 crore and that the contract was awarded to a benami company linked to BRS MLA Harish Rao. "Why hasn't the government acted after conducting a vigilance inquiry and receiving its report?" she asked.
"I envision a Telangana that benefits everyone, not just a select few. My goal is to build a State free from disparities. People should feel secure about their education and healthcare. It's essential that women, students and youth are given political opportunities. Student union elections must be reinstated - only then can new leadership emerge," she said.
She also said that although Telangana was often described as a wealthy State, not all its residents were financially secure. She also spoke about the importance of financial independence and equal opportunities for all, rather than opportunities based merely on reservations.
The Telangana Jagruthi president said that within the BRS she was confined to Nizamabad district due to protocol restrictions and denied opportunities to facilitate teacher transfers. "Where else could I even engage in corruption?" she asked sarcastically.
"I was unjustly expelled from the BRS after two decades of service without even being issued a show-cause notice. If KCR were to call me as a father, I would respond. However, my political engagement has ended. The time for responding to political calls is over; I no longer have any political ties with the BRS," Kavitha added.
She added that she also aimed to demonstrate the importance of women's participation in politics at some point. "There will be a time for that, but right now, we must focus on raising the people's concerns," she said.
