In a major political development, candidates supported by president of Telangana Jagruthi and former MLC K Kavitha secured a decisive victory in Vaddepalli municipality of Jogulamba Gadwal district in the municipal elections.
Supporters of the victorious candidates celebrated in Vaddepalli, hoisting Forward Bloc flags and expressing confidence that the win would energise the cadres ahead of future elections.
Telangana Jagruthi-backed candidates, contesting on the All India Forward Bloc symbol, won eight of the 10 wards in the municipality under local leader Vaddepalli Srinivas. The Congress and BRS secured one ward each.
The outcome created a political stir in Telangana, especially since Vaddepalli falls within the wider region where the Congress and BRS have been the primary contenders.
Observers say that the success of the Forward Bloc in this local body exceeds expectations and marks a noteworthy foothold for the party in State politics.
They say that the victory stands out against broader State trends in the municipal elections, where the Congress has been dominant in many other municipalities across Telangana, and the BRS and other parties securing wins in select towns.
