Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath on Monday said that there was no place in the Congress party for leaders with vested interests.
In an informal chat with reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Sailajanath said that the Congress party would not suffer any damage if some leaders quit to join other parties. Without taking the name of Chintalapudi MLA Rajesh Kumar who joined YSR Congress party on Monday, the minister said that leaders who serve people get priority in the Congress party. However, the survival of leaders with vested interests was difficult in the Congress.
Speaking about the state losing the important portfolio of petroleum during the recent cabinet expansion, Sailajanath said that instead of petroleum, the state got the key portfolio of human resources development which would help the higher education sector in the state. (INN)
