Hyderabad | 14th March 2015
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday assured the Telangana Legislative Council that there would be no power cuts in the state after May this year.
Replying to the issues raised by Leader Of The Opposition D Srinivas in the Legislative Council during the debate on the state budget, the Chief Minister claimed that the era of power cuts was coming to an end.
He said that there would be some cuts from 25th March to 25th April in view of the Rabi season. From May, there would be no power cuts in the state, he stated.
The Chief Minister alleged that the power situation had worsened in Telangana as Andhra Pradesh denied Telangana its share of 53.8% in the Hinduja and Krishnapatnam power projects.
He said that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu did not even follow the instructions issued by the Centre on the issues.
However, he said that the state government had worked out several alternatives to overcome the shortage of power. He said that the recent allocation of KG Basin gas to Telangana was likely to improve the situation further.
KCR reminded that the government was forced to impose power cuts during the same period last year. However, this year, the situation was not so bad.
He also claimed that the industries which were earlier planning to shift to other states due to the power shortage were staying in Hyderabad.
He said that by 2017, Telangana would not have any power crisis. He said that he was personally monitoring the power situation on a minute-to-minute basis.
The Chief Minister also assured that the bifurcation of the Hyderabad High Court would be completed in the next 15 days.
Stating that the division of Andhra Pradesh would remain incomplete without the bifurcation of the High Court, he said that he would meet the Chief Justice of the High Court Kalyan Jyothi Sen Gupta in the next 2-3 days.
He expressed hope that the Centre too would expedite the process of the bifurcation of the High Court. (INN)
