Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Saturday informed that the Congress party's convention being held on Sunday would discuss several crucial issues concerning the state.
Talking to reporters after reviewing the arrangements at the convention's venue L B Stadium here, Botsa said that the party would discuss the implementation of government's welfare schemes, and the means to take those schemes to the doorsteps of the people. The workers would be briefed about the recent achievements of the Congress government, especially the passing of the SC/ST sub-plan bill. He said that several resolutions would also be passed during the convention.
Separate resolutions will be introduced with regard to the issues of the backward classes, the minorities, women and child development, and education.
When asked by reporters, Botsa informed that Telangana leaders met him on Saturday at Gandhi Bhavan requesting him to pass a resolution with regard to the formation of the Telangana state. However, he said the party has decided not to raise the issue of Telangana as the Centre has already convened an all-party meeting on December 28.
Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, Labour Minister Danam Nagender, former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir and other leaders were also present. (INN)
