Attapur Division Congress leader Ram Reddy today joined the BRS along with his followers in the presence of the party working president K T Rama Rao at Telangana Bhavan.
KTR thanked Reddy for joining the BRS and welcomed him into the party by draping him with the party scarf. MLA and former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and Rajendranagar Assembly constituency in-charge Patolla Karthik Reddy also participated in the programme.
"No one believed the Congress' words during the Assembly elections within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. The BJP won the Goshamahal constituency by sheer luck. Judging by the enthusiasm of the people from Rajendranagar, it's clear that Patolla Karthik Reddy will soon become an MLA," he said.
KTR alleged that the Congress came to power by making 420 promises, and deceived the people after assuming office by not fulfilling them. He said that the people of Telangana had no faith in the local Congress leaders, prompting the party to bring in top leaders from Delhi and issue various declarations.
"Many parties have come and gone, but only two parties have created lasting impact - Telugu Desam and BRS," he added. Former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had earned the people's trust through the Arogyasri scheme, Chandrababu Naidu had developed Hyderabad's IT sector, and the BRS government continued the Arogyasri scheme after coming to power in Telangana, he said.
"The BJP has however not done a single good thing for Telangana. Whenever elections approach, they raise issues of religion and caste. One BJP leader claimed Hindus are in danger - if that is true, then Prime Minister Modi has failed. Their only agenda during elections is to seek votes in the name of religion," he added.
He also questioned the Centre's silence over PM Modi's recent statement that the Congress government in Telangana was collecting an "RR" tax. "If the Prime Minister's statement is true, then why is no action being taken against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy?" he asked.
KTR alleged that the BJP and the Congress had conspired together to eliminate the BRS from the State, and said that the pink flag however continued to remain a symbol of protection for the people of Telangana.
