The Special CBI Court, on Thursday, rejected a petition filed by the Central Bureau Of Investigation, that sought permission for narco-analysis tests on Jagathi Publications vice-chairman V Vijay Sai Reddy, the key accused in the Jagan disproportionate assets case.
Disposing of the petition, the court opposed the probing agency's decision to conduct narco-analysis on Vijay Sai Reddy to get vital information in the case.
CBI counsel B Ravindranath argued that no harm would be caused to Vijay Sai Reddy during the narco test, and that the agency would follow all guidelines issued by the Supreme Court.
He also claimed that Vijay Sai Reddy was not cooperating with the CBI, and that he was concealing vital information related to the case.
However, Vijay Sai Reddy's counsel argued against the CBI's plea, stating that narco tests were against the law, and that they violate the freedom of an individual. He appealed to the court not to permit the CBI to conduct the tests on his client.
After hearing the arguments, the court rejected the CBI's petition. The probing agency is now planning to move a petition in the Supreme Court in this regard. (INN)
