RTC Managing Director A K Khan said that there was no proposal to increase bus fares for now.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he denied rumours that there would be a steep hike in bus charges in wake of the increase in diesel charges.
"We are trying to explore alternative sources of income to compensate for the additional expenditure we will be incurring due to the increase in diesel prices," he said.
"APSRTC needs to pay Rs. 11.29 more per litre according to the revised diesel rates. We will come up with an alternative, instead of passing on the hike to customers," he said. (INN)
