The state government is planning to slap a penalty on those who throw garbage, debris and litter on the roads instead of using the dust bins being provided.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao hinted at this, stating that roads should be free from garbage now that the government would be supplying two dust bins (wet and dry) to every household.
KCR stated this in a review meeting at Hitex on the five-day long Swachch Hyderabad drive in the presence of Governor E S L Narasimhan and ministers.
Claiming that the cleanliness drive was successful and would continue, he exhorted the people and shops to abstain from throwing trash, litter, debris and garbage on the roads.
Many roads were getting clogged due to storm water as nalas were being encroached by houses, KCR said, adding that this problem would be resolved by providing the dwellers with alternative facilities.
The government would also provide 2,500 trolley autos to unemployed youth to shift the garbage to dumping yards from the houses.
He hinted at slapping penalties on the violators and asked them to cooperate in keeping the city clean.
"Our priority is to make the nalas and roads clean to make the city beautiful, with the people's cooperation," he said.
Reiterating his stand of providing housing for the poor, KCR said that the houses on the nalas would be removed, and the dwellers provided an alternative.
He asked the officials to follow a scientific approach to ensure that civic amenities like water and power were provided on time. (NSS)
