Echoing the
views of his cabinet colleague Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Overseas Affairs Vayalar Ravi on Tuesday said that no deadline could be set to resolve the Telangana issue.
Talking to reporters here, Vayalar Ravi, who is also a PCC Observer, said that Telangana is among several other problems seeking redressal by the Centre.
"The statehood demand alone cannot be given priority," he said.
However, he claimed that the Centre has been continuing talks with stakeholders to resolve the issue at the earliest.
Vayalar Ravi said that the Centre was keen to resolve the Telangana issue, and that for the same reason it had held talks with several leaders, including Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao. However, he said that it was difficult for the Centre to set a deadline as the subject involves several stakeholders. (INN)
