Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday categorically stated that "conspiracies" could not stop the formation of a Telangana state.
Addressing the party's 12th Formation Day at Armoor in Nizamabad district, KCR said that a handful of politicians were trying to stall the formation of Telangana through conspiracies.
Describing them as "worthless leaders", KCR remarked that while some leaders from the Telangana region had betrayed the statehood movement by going back on their promises of resignations, Seemandhra leaders had staged a "drama" of mass resignation.
Giving clear indications that he was ready to join hands with any party or group that supports Telangana, the TRS chief stated that it he who had constituted a Joint Action Committee to bring all pro-Telangana forces onto a single platform.
KCR also recalled his struggle from launching the party 12 years ago to leading it to its peak. He said that the re-election of MLAs who had resigned from their parent parties for the sake of Telangana, on the TRS tickets, "clearly indicate that the people in the region were in favour of the immediate formation of a Telangana state".
The TRS chief demanded that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh honour the promise made by the Centre on the formation of Telangana, and announce its formation by bringing forth a Bill in the Parliament. He added that the PM must form a separate Telangana if he had "any respect for democracy". (INN)
