With the Congress High Command completely ignoring the
May 30-deadline (about the Telangana statehood issue) set by three MPs from Telanga, two of these MPs - Dr. G Vivek and Manda Jagannatham - have decided to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
However, Warangal MP S Rajaiah appears to have changed his mind, and might not quit the Congress after all.
In a day filled with rapid political developments, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, along with his son and Sircilla MLA K Taraka Rama Rao, called on Peddapalli MP Vivek at the latter's residence.
They reportedly re-assured Vivek that amidst all the MPs and other leaders joining the TRS, he would be in the party's front-line. They (KCR and his son) were accompanied by former PCC president K Keshava Rao, who is preparing to join the TRS.
In related developments, Medchal MLA K Lakshma Reddy met Vivek at the latter's residence, and tried in vain to convince him not to leave the Congress.
Meanwhile, Keshava Rao also called on Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy. However, what transpired between the two is not known.
The two MPs, G Vivek and Manda Jagannatham, along with K Keshava Rao, may formally join the TRS on June 2 at a public meeting proposed to be held at Nizam College Grounds. (INN)
