Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA T Harish Rao, on Wednesday, reiterated that his party would continue to stall the proceedings of the House until the government moves a resolution on a separate Telangana.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly media point, Harish Rao said that the TRS has made its stand on this issue clear in the Business Advisory Committee meeting convened under the chairmanship of Speaker Nadendla Manohar with floor leaders of all the parties on Wednesday.
He said the TRS would extend cooperation to the Speaker if the government makes its stand on this issue on this issue and moves a resolution.
Nadendla Manohar is yet to respond to the TRS' appeal.
Harish Rao also challenged Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu to introduce a resolution on Telangana in the Assembly if he was really committed to the formation of a separate state.
He said that the Centre would honour its promise made to the people of the region if Naidu himself moves a resolution in the Assembly.
"If the ruling party neglects the demand of the region's people, the Opposition leader must act responsibly and take steps to fulfill their aspirations," he said.
The TRS leader said that his party would extend its cooperation to Naidu if he moves a resolution on Telangana. He recalled that the Centre had sought the Assembly resolution in order to take a favourable decision on Telangana issue.
Disputing Governor E S L Narasimhan's statement that he was not partial to any one region, he asked why the Governor did not take steps for giving justice to Telangana students when they were being arrested in different cases.
He also asked why the Governor did not respond to the issue of Cheruku Sudhakar, who was arrested under the PD Act in Nalgonda district.
Harish Rao criticized the Governor for not saying anything about "the 700 students who had ended their lives for the cause of Telangana" in his address to the Assembly. (INN)
