The National Green Tribunal (NGT) today expressed displeasure at the Andhra Pradesh government over its reported violations related to irrigation projects.
The tribunal directed the state's Chief Secretary Adityanath Das to submit a report on the steps being taken to prevent the same.
Since the Chief Secretary is due to retire from service on September 30, the government should come up with its report before that, the tribunal said.
The NGT was hearing a petition seeking action against the AP government for construction of unauthorised projects and violations of norms, and took exception to the government for not following its previous orders to stop works on the construction of the projects, and not heeding to its warnings of serious action against the Chief Secretary and other officials for not complying with the norms.
The tribunal today instructed the Chief Secretary to give his clarification before he retired.
The tribunal reportedly also instructed the Telangana government to give its report by the end of the month.
