Newborn Dies, Parents Accuse Doctors

Angry parents of a newborn staged a protest in Vizag, suspecting a botched C-section.
Hyderabad | 12th October 2010
Tension prevailed around the precincts of Krishna Maternity Hospital at Railway Colony in Visakhapatnam, on Tuesday, as angry parents of a newborn staged a protest there, following the baby's death.

The parents alleged that the newborn's death was due to the negligence of the doctors.

According to information coming in, Murali Krishna had got his wife admitted to the hospital on Sunday after she experienced labour pains.

Doctor Srinivasmurthy advised the couple to go in for Caesarian section, after checking the health of the mother-to-be.

A male child was successfully delivered by the doctor after the Caesarian operation on Monday night.

Some time later, the baby died and the body was handed over to the father. Murali Krishna was told that the child had died since he was weak.

While taking the dead body for burial, Murali Krishna noticed cuts on the baby's ears. Suspicion dawned on him that the cuts were caused during the Caesarian operation and that the newborn bled to death.

He immediately alerted his relatives and friends, who protested along with him at the hospital.

Police reached the spot after getting information, and registered a case. Further investigations into the allegations are on.
