Telangana's first home minister and a noted leader of labourers, Nayini Narsimha Reddy passed away today of post-Covid complications.
He breathed his last at a hospital in the early hours today.
The 76-year-old had staged a recovery from Covid-19, but was admitted to a hospital shortly after that due to breathing difficulties.
He was on a ventilator for quite a while.
Reddy was cremated at the Jubilee Hills crematorium as per the Hindu norms, and with state honours including a gun salute. Reddy's wife was brought on a wheelchair to the cremation ground to pay her last respects.
On behalf of the state government ministers K T Rama Rao and V Srinivas Goud carried the body of the former minister.
Ministers Etala Rajender, Mahmood Ali, Srinivas Yadav and Srinivas Goud, MP K Keshava Rao, MLAs, MLCs, Mayor B Rammohan and a large numbers of TRS leaders attended the final rites of the popular leader.
However Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who had met the family members of Reddy in the hospital on Wednesday, could not attend the final rites today.
A whole host of leaders straddling political parties condoled the death.
