The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday interrogated retired additional SP Ravinder Reddy in connection with slain gangster Mohammed Nayeemuddin’s encounter at the Narsingi police station in Hyderabad.
The interrogation holds significance as the SIT was ordered by the Hyderabad High Court to submit a charge sheet within a few days.
As per the investigation, Ravinder Reddy worked as the Choutuppal CI from 1995-1997, as Bhongir DSP from 1997-2000 and Nalgonda DSP from 2003 to 2004.
Speaking to the media after the interrogation, Reddy said that he met Nayeem two times as part of his profession while the latter was in a jail in Bhongir. He said that there was no Nayeemuddin gang during his tenure as the Bhongir DSP.
"I am not involved with Nayeemuddin and his dealings in any ways. I do not have any lands or holdings in Hyderabad or anywhere else through Nayeem. I only have a land in Nizamabad that I acquired through legal means," he said.
"I revealed whatever information I knew, to the SIT. They didn't ask me about other police officers or political leaders," he said.
