The Chief Minister said that everyone involved with the slain gangster would be incriminated under law and punished with an iron fist.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today, during the State Assembly session, said that everyone involved with slain gangster Mohammed Nayeemuddin would be incriminated under law and punished with an iron fist.
Rejecting Congress leader Jeevan Reddy's plea for a CBI inquiry into Nayeem's episode, KCR praised the Telangana Police for eliminating the dreaded mafia kingpin in a high-voltage gun battle on August 8, 2016, and declared that four teams under the supervision of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) would soon unravel the truth, and file 15 more charge sheets in the court to bring the involved culprits to the book.
The Chief Minister apprised the House on the malefactions of the Nayeem's mafia and the steps being taken by the State government to bring all accused to justice. Accusing the previous Congress and TDP governments of befriending Nayeem and encouraging him in his nefarious activities, he recalled that Jeevan Reddy was a Minister who did nothing to nab the gangster.
Instead of supporting the State government and the Police in taking action against the criminal, the Congress, which ruled the State for several years and did zilch about him, was slinging mud at the two institutions, he claimed.
"During Statehood movement, we warned the ex-Maoist of dire consequences of threatening the then TRS floor leader Etela Rajender and other leaders. And upon assuming power, the TRS government acted on the warning," he said, exuding confidence.
The Chief Minister also said the officials were directed to go ahead to punish any leader, irrespective of Party lines, including those of the TRS, if their involvement came to the fore.
KCR threatened to reveal the Congress' own involvement with Nayeem, and alleged that the then regime had appointed a police officer to the post of DGP, who later turned out to be an approver in the Nayeem case.
"I am ready to disclose all the facts about the 10 years of Congress rule. If the Opposition wants to get the details, the SIT and State police will bring them out at an appropriate time, by moving court. Nayeem gang members, anti-social elements and extremists will be dealt with an iron fist," he promised.
"We are in no mood to spare anyone, unlike the previous governments who were in a deep slumber despite 174 cases filed against Nayeem and co., who continued killing innocent people, looting and grabbing lands, and threatening people for over two-and-a-half decades. Our Police forces acted courageously by eliminating Nayeemuddin. They recovered an AK-47, a 9 mm pistol and some other lethal weapons. None of these could be achieved by the Congress," KCR said, adding that a DG rank police official and another additional Director General would bring the facts to light.
He further said that the police examined 174 witnesses, arrested 124 accused, and seized 21 fire arms, 21 cars, 26 motorcycles, cash worth Rs. 2.95 crores, documents relating to 1,015 acres land, house sites of 1,67,000 square yards and 27 residential houses. He also disclosed that Rs. 143 crores worth properties were seized in the case. Nayeem was involved in 27 murders and 25 more suspected murders, he added.
"The Telangana Police are the nation's best. They have already seized huge cash, gold and properties acquired by Nayeem and his associates through illegal ways. So far, two charge sheets have been filed, and 12 charge sheets will be filed shortly. So, there is no need for a CBI probe," he opined.
Congress MLA T Jeevan Reddy pointed out that there were reports of huge haul of cash, gold, diamonds and properties worth thousands of crores of rupees.
"Where is all this wealth? And where is the diary which is purported to have been seized from Nayeem's residence? The government ought to disclose all of that. Otherwise, the case should be handed over to the CBI," he demanded.
