Three TDP leaders were allegedly abducted by suspected Maoists in the Visakhapatnam district on Monday night.
The TDP government's decision to undertake bauxite mining in the Agency area apparently prompted the extremists to resort to the kidnap.
Those kidnapped were identified as Mamidi Balayya Padal, Mukkala Mahesh and Vandalam Balayya. They were reportedly kidnapped from their houses in the Gudem Kothaguda village.
The Maoists have reportedly increased their activity after the government finalized bauxite mining plans.
The abduction of the TDP leaders comes weeks after the killing of two Maoists in the forests of Eturunagaram in the Warangal district, which sparked massive protests against the Telangana government after the families of the deceased called it a cold-blooded murder.
