Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today conducted a virtual inspection of the Polavaram project from his Secretariat in Velagapudi.
During the review meeting, the Chief Minister fixed three key milestones for the months of December and January. He said that the concrete works of Polavaram project would commence on December 19, and Union Minister Uma Bharati would be invited to lay foundations for the works.
The second was to start 'diaphragm wall' works in the 1st week of January, and the third milestone was to start fabricating gates at the dam site during the 2nd week of January.
The officials informed the CM that during the last week 2.92 lakh cubic meters of earth work at the spillway, 8.1 lakh cubic meters at the spill channel, and 2.34 lakh cubic meters of earth work at the powerhouse foundation were carried out.
As per them, the total quantity of excavation which needed to be executed by March 31 2017, stands at 40,02,000 lakh cubic meters.
Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao (Water Resources), irrigation department officials and representatives from TRANSSTROY and Thriveni were present.
