Some unidentified miscreants allegedly robbed passengers and fled with their gold jewellery and cash, in the Tirupati-bound Narayanadri Express, in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to the Nellore railway police, the miscreants robbed passengers of sleeper coaches S7, S9, S10 and S12 of the Secunderabad-Tirupati Narayanadri Express at Edlapally Railway gate, between Tsundur and Tenali stations. They stole about 50 tolas of gold jewellery, and cash and cell phones of the sleeping passengers.
The robbers even tried to rob passengers in coaches S13 and S14. However, the passengers resisted their moves by raising an alarm. The robbers then pulled the emergency chain, and jumped out of the train.
Later, the victims lodged a complaint with the Nellore railway police.
The passengers complained that such incidents have been frequently occurring on the Tsundur-Tenali route and on the Dornakal-Khammam route. (INN)
