Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao on Monday evening launched his latest brainchild aimed at promoting the Telangana agitation - a Telangana-centric daily named Namaste Telangana.
KCR launched the paper at Ravindra Bharati in an event that ran high on sentiment and drama. The parents of 2 students who had allegedly sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana launched the broadsheet and the tabloid of the paper at the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, KCR waxed eloquent about his paper, hailing it as the heart and soul of the 4-crore population of the Telangana region. The TRS supremo charged that the existing Telugu dailies were distorting the culture and tradition of the Telangana people, and that the region was not given any importance in their news coverage.
Columnist Allam Narayana, who is known to have worked with Andhra Jyothi, will serve as the Editor of Namaste Telangana - whose subscribers are, according to KCR, 7 lakhs in number.
It has been reported that the initial print-run of the paper would be between 7,50,000 and 8,00,000.
The TRS chief also revealed that he intends to launch an Urdu version of his Telugu daily in August, and that it will be named Rahbar-e-Telangana.
