Nalgonda Stone-Throwing: Congress Asks Nayani To Quit

Condemning the stone-throwing attack on Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi demanded Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy's resignation.
Hyderabad | 17th May 2017
Condemning the stone-throwing attack on Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy by TRS activists on Tuesday, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president Mallu Ravi demanded that Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy immediately resign owing responsibility for the incident.

He also lashed out at the state government for failing to give the protocol respect to Reddy.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Ravi said that the decision to take up the construction of the market yard and the laying of its foundation stone by Marketing Minister T Harish Rao came about because of the efforts of Reddy, who had raised the issue in the Assembly. He alleged that the violence happened because of the failure of the police and over-enthusiasm of the TRS leaders. The police confined themselves to arresting people instead of controlling the incidents, he said, adding that they were working under the control of the TRS leaders.

Ravi demanded that Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy tender a public apology for the incident. He alleged that Jagadish Reddy had no understanding of democracy.

He also demanded that the government withdraw the cases filed against Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and other Congress leaders.
