The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials today caught Bhaskar Rao, Nalgonda Superintendent of Police, Vigilance & Enforcement, while he was accepting Rs. 1 lakh from a rice miller for doing him official favours.
The ACB sleuths arrested the SP in Nalgonda and conducted simultaneous raids on his houses in Hyderabad and Warangal. This was for the second time that Bhaskar Rao was caught while taking bribes. Earlier, he was caught in Karimnagar for collecting illegal gratification.
The ACB officials, comprising of three DSPs and others, plunged into action on receiving a complaint from a miller named R Bhadradri, who was asked by the SP to pay Rs 1 lakh if he wanted a clearance certificate for the produce at his mill.
The Vigilance & Enforcement wing is entrusted with the responsibility of checking the quality and compliance by companies, industries and others, and is an arm of the Police department.
