The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Monday alleged that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu was undertaking his "Vastunna Mee Kosam" padayatra with the help of some anti-social elements.
Talking to reporters here, TRS Deputy Floor leader T Harish Rao said that the people of Telangana were against Naidu's padayatra in their region. However, he said that Naidu was organising it with the active support of "gundas". He announced that the TRS would oppose Naidu's yatra until he makes his stand clear on the statehood issue.
Accusing Chandrababu Naidu of creating hurdles in the formation of Telangana, he alleged that the TDP chief never had a clear stand on the issue, thus giving reasons to the Centre to delay its decision. Describing Naidu's recent letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh as a gimmick, he said that except demanding an all-party meeting, Naidu did not specify his support for formation of Telangana state.
The Siddipet MLA also ridiculed the claims of Telugu Desam Telangana Forum MLAs Mothkupalli Narasimhulu and Errabelli Dayakar Rao that the party leaders from the region were in favour of separate State. He said that both Mothkupalli and Errabelli were aspiring to become ministers if TDP returns to power.
The TRS leader categorically stated that Chandrababu Naidu would be allowed to enter the region only after he clarifies his stand on Telangana. He also announced that the TRS would oppose the "Maro Praja Prasthanam" padayatra of YSR Congress party leader Sharmila into the region.
Harish Rao also demanded that the ministers from the Telangana region join the statehood agitation instead of visiting New Delhi for political purposes. He also regretted that the Telangana ministers were divided over the statehood issue and this was exposed during their recent tour to the National Capital. (INN)
