Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today ordered a CID inquiry into the train accident in the Vizianagaram district that so far claimed more than 32 lives and injured hundreds.
Taking cue from Railways authorities' suspicion that the accident might be a case of planned sabotage, he issued orders directing forensic investigation teams to expedite their probe of the accident site. He also considered that the Naxalites wanted their presence to be felt before Republic Day, and alerted various departments on the same.
Naidu reportedly spoke to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Odisha Chief Minister Navin Patnaik and briefed them about the possibility of a naxal attack.
Earlier, the AP Chief Minister expressed his sorrow over the accideent. He directed his Cabinet colleagues to rush to the accident site and supervise rescue works.
He also instructed the authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured and make arrangements to send bodies of the deceased to their families.
