TDP leaders N Chandrababu Naidu was asked to stop his padayatra keeping his health in view.
Senior leader T Devender Goud, who met him at Nandigama near here today, has asked Naidu to call off his padayatra on health grounds. He said to Naidu that "no other leader has walked this far taking up public issues, his health has not been cooperative, and, during the past few days, he had developed problems with his legs".
This is the third time during his padayatra that he has had problems with his knee, ankle and feet but he continued, said Goud.
Krishna district, the hotbed of TDP politics, the birthplace of NTR and TDP, received a jolt with Gudivada MLA Kodali Nani quitting the party.
The padayatra, titled Vasthunna Meekosam, was taken up as a mass contact programme in anticipation of the 2014 elections.
Since the atmosphere is charged up with agitations on both sides with strikes, dharnas and picketing of elected representatives' houses, Devender Goud's request seems to be a strategic move to avoid any inconvenience. (INN)
