Several senior leaders and ministers of the TRS today exuded confidence about the party's prospects in the upcoming Nagarjuna Sagar by-election, and claimed that Nomula Bhagat would surely win the seat as the people of the constituency would reject the candidates of the Opposition.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali were seen campaigning hard for Bhagat in the region today. They were accompanied by Ramagundam MLA K Chander.
Addressing the roadshows in Nagarjuna Sagar, Yadav said that the Congress' candidate for the seat, senior leader K Jana Reddy, would face defeat in the election as the latter's party was "against development".
The minister ridiculed Jana Reddy for contesting for the seat at his advanced age, and added, "Jana Reddy is an elderly man, and will not be able to do much for the people of Nagarjuna Sagar even if he does win the seat. It seems like he is not in the position to campaign, and has already run away to avoiding so."
Echoing Yadav's claims, Mahamood Ali appealed to the people of the constituency to support Bhagat.
"If you vote for Nomula Bhagat, he will follow in the footsteps of the late Nomula Narsimhaiah. Taking forward the legacy of his father, he will always prioritise the development of the region. If you support the Congress or the other parties of the Opposition, on the other hand, the region will not see any growth," he asserted.
Mahmood Ali expressed his hope that the welfare programs and development projects undertaken by the ruling party would help the people see that it was committed to their welfare, and would motivate them to support Bhagat.
