Ministers T Srinivas Yadav, V Srinivas Goud and G Jagadish Reddy today continued their efforts to mobilise support for the pink party ahead of the April 17 Nagarjuna Sagar by-election.
The ministers praised the Telangana government for extending support to the farmers, the women, the elderly, the marginalised, and the youth of the state through its many welfare schemes.
They then flayed the ruling party's rivals, the Congress and the BJP, for resorting to "misinformation campaigns" in order to "hurt the prospects" of the party's candidate, Nomula Bhagat, in the upcoming election.
"Though Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is looked up to by other state governments for having successfully implemented many welfare and development programs in Telangana, the Opposition in our own state never seems to have a good word to say about these efforts. Our government has been able to bring rapid development to the state despite the repeated attempts of both the BJP and the Congress to stall such efforts. However, the two parties are now coming to seek votes from the same people they have been neglecting," the three ministers charged.
"Though the Opposition is carrying out misinformation campaigns against our government, we know that the voters are too smart to fall prey to its gimmicks. Our welfare schemes speak for themselves, and the beneficiaries of the same know exactly how committed we are to the state and the people. This is why our campaign has been receiving such an overwhelming response from the people of Nagarjuna Sagar," they added.
The leitmotif in the TRS' campaign speeches for this election seems to be
attacking Bhagat's rival for the seat, the Congress' K Jana Reddy. In today's campaign too, the TRS' leaders attacked the senior politician with their acerbic words, and claimed, "Jana Reddy has failed miserably, in his political career spanning 40 long years, to bring any substantial development to the state. This, despite the fact that he has held ministerial posts for many years. After all, it was not the Congress or Jana Reddy who addressed the problem of fluoride contamination in Nalgonda, but the TRS government. We have been able to ensure that the people of the region get potable, fluoride-free water in just seven years."
They said that they were confident that Bhagat would win the seat on the strength of the TRS regime's commitment to welfare.
