Former minister Dr. P Shankar Rao demanded the resignation of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy from his post for opposing the decision taken by the Congress High Command.
Speaking to media persons on Friday, at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Shankar Rao said that by opposing the decision on the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister has challenged the authority of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
He said that Kiran Kumar Reddy should resign from his post, and also tender an unconditional apology to the Congress High Command for raising the banner of revolt.
Shankar Rao said that the Congress High Command has kept a watch on the activities of Kiran Kumar Reddy and would take an action against him at an appropriate time. He said that the Chief Minister might face the axe in the month of September.
The Secunderabad Cantonment MLA also claimed that Telangana would be a reality in 111 days. He said that the process of Telangana formation would be completed on December 9 which coincides with the birthday of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Shankar Rao appealed to Seemandhra leaders not to waste their energy by continuing the Samaikyandhra agitation. He said the agitation would not affect the decision taken by the Congress High Command in any way.
He also wished YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been admitted to the Osmania General Hospital due to his indefinite fast (against Telangana), a speedy recovery. (INN)
