Hailing the
statement by former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy that he would launch his new party within the next 45 days, former MLC H A Rahman on Tuesday expressed confidence that Muslims in the state would support the proposed party en bloc.
Speaking to media persons at the CLP Office, Rahman stated that members of the Muslim community got their due share in the welfare schemes envisaged and launched by former Chief Minister, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, during his reign.
He also stated that YSR had introduced many schemes for the benefit of minorities.
Recalling the introduction of 4% reservations for members of the minority communities during YSR's stint as Chief Minister, Rahman stated that many people were ready to join Jaganmohan Reddy's party from across the state because of their emotional attachment to YSR family members.
He said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her political advisor Ahmed Patel never did anything for the welfare of the minorities.
The former MLC added that after YSR had assumed charge as the Chief Minister of the state, the minority community members were able to compete with members of the forward caste community since they could take the benefits of the many schemes introduced by YSR.
Rahman added that YSR was at the forefront in providing social justice.
