Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today thanked DMK working president and Leader Of Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly M K Stalin, who he said welcomed his (KCR's) efforts to uphold social justice and get more powers for the states.
In a statement in the Assembly recently, KCR had appealed to the Centre to increase reservations for SCs, STs and minorities, and to delegate the powers regarding this to the states. As part of his efforts to rally support from leaders of other states for this objective, KCR had spoken to Stalin over the phone on Monday morning. And Stalin released a press note in Chennai on Sunday conveying his support to KCR on the issue.
Stalin mentioned that the untiring efforts by the DMK had led to the string of successes in upholding social justice and securing a 69% cap on reservations for Tamil Nadu (the nationwide cap is 50%). He said that KCR was making efforts to do the same for Telangana and get powers for other states also to do the same for their own states, and appreciated him for that.
