The Telangana government had decided to establish exclusive Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) parks for women in every Assembly constituency as part of a long-term strategy to promote women's entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, Telangana IT & Industries Minister Sridhar Babu said today.
Addressing the WE-Enable Graduation Ceremony organised by WE Hub at Dr B R Ambedkar Open University, Jubilee Hills, the minister said that women would be positioned as key stakeholders in the State's vision to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
He said that women's empowerment needed to begin within the family and extend to active participation in economic and social life.
"There is a visible change in social attitudes towards women across Telangana, which signals a deeper shift in societal thinking," Babu said.
Citing official data, the minister said that Telangana's Female Labour Force Participation Rate (FLFPR) stood at 52.7%, significantly higher than the national average of 45.2%. He added that women's workforce participation in the State had risen sharply from 22% in 2017-18, reflecting improved access to employment and enterprise opportunities.
He credited WE Hub with playing a pioneering role in nurturing women entrepreneurs, and said that the proposed WE Hub 2.0 initiative would focus on building globally competitive women-led enterprises.
The minister also said that the government was creating an integrated entrepreneurial ecosystem to enable women to access skilling, technology, finance, markets and mentorship under a unified framework.
Urging women to move beyond conventional employment, Babu encouraged them to become job creators and enterprise leaders, contributing directly to Telangana's economic growth.
The event was attended by Olympic badminton player Jwala Gutta, film producer Priyanka Dutt, WE Hub CEO Sita Pallacholla, and senior officials.
