Telangana IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu today announced that during visits to Davos in 2024 and 2025, the Telangana government entered into a total of 44 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with various corporations, involving investments worth Rs 2.19 lakh crore.
These investments were at various stages of implementation, and 68,150 direct employment opportunities would be generated in Telangana, he said.
Replying to questions raised by members Katipalli Venkataramana Reddy, Payal Shankar and Dhanpal Satyanarayana in the Assembly, the minister added that land had already been allocated to six of the companies that signed MoUs, involving investments worth Rs 81,800 crore.
Through this process, the State government had generated Rs 1,540 crore in revenue, he said. Additionally, land had been identified for allocation to three more companies, which had proposed an investment of around Rs 30,000 crore, he added.
Babu also said that the opposition's malicious propaganda regarding investments was completely unjustified, and alleged that opposition parties were unable to tolerate the fact that the government was attracting investments into Telangana.
"For the sake of selfish politics, spreading such false narratives out of anger against us is not good for the State," he said.
"I am fully committed to transparency in the portfolios I oversee. Not just today - even in the future, I will stand by this commitment and act accordingly. We are ready to release a white paper on MoUs, investments, companies and related aspects. We are also open to a short discussion on the subject," he added.
The minister said that the government was working with complete sincerity to ground every MoU signed during Davos visits and other occasions, and that there should be no doubt about its commitment in this regard.
Here are the MoUs & investment commitments in the various Davos editions:
2024 - 18 MoUs, Rs 40,232 crore
2025 - 26 MoUs, Rs 1,78,950 crore
Total - 44 MoUs, Rs 2,19,182 crore
