Kakinada Sri Peetham head Paripoornananda Swamy exhorted people not to encourage "national betrayers" like Kanche Ilaiah, who the seer said had declared that he would do anything if given Rs 1 lakh crore to him.
Speaking to the media, the seer said that he would announce an action plan after the Devi navarathrulu. The Haindava heads were behind his action plan, he said, and announced that he would skip the Dharmika Janajeevana Sravanthi if Hindus failed to come along with him to implement the plan.
It was atrocious for Ilaiah to speak like that being in the teaching profession, Paripoornananda Swamy said. Ilaiah was creating differences between castes and religions, he alleged, and demanded that the state government file a case against him.
He also alleged that some people were distancing the dalits from reservations by making them change their religion.
TRS MLA Ganesh Gupta, too, waded into the protests, saying that Ilaiah was behaving like a monkey drunk on toddy, and needed to be admitted to a mental hospital.
Participating in the release function of a counter-book titled "Samajika Sevakulu Vysyulu" held at the Basheerbagh Press Club, Gupta called Ilaiah as a foreign agent and a national betrayer. He said that Ilaiah was trying to destroy the nation, and demanded that the government file a case against him for those crimes.
TRS leader Kacham Sathyanarayana, senior journalist Devulapalli Amar and others participated in the program.
