Kancha Ilaiah, the rabble-rousing writer who imposed a house arrest on himself till October 4 to escape attacks by protestors, came out on Thursday, his 65th birthday.
Protesting against his controversial book titled "Samajika Smugglarlu Komatollu", the Arya-Vysya community had organised dharnas across the two Telugu states, and some people even allegedly tried to attack him at Parakala, resulting in him announcing on September 24 that he was
imposing a house-arrest upon himself.
Ever since the controversial book came out, members of the Arya-Vysya community continuously staged dharnas against Ilaiah in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. They also demanded that the two Telugu states ban the book. Political parties including the TDP, TRS and BJP extended their solidarity to the cash-rich community.
Considering the serious protests of the community, Ilaiah decided not to venture out of his house for 10 days. He emerged today on the occasion of English Day celebrations in Osmania University. He stated his usual positions there, seeking reservations in the private sector, banning of corporate schools etc.
