Hyderabad | 2nd November 2015
The police resorted to firing at chain-snatchers today near the Rajadhani Hotel in Auto Nagar under the Vanasthalipuram Police Station limits on the city outskirts.

According to the police, one Anuradha, 36, was returning from a bank located near the Rajdhani Hotel to her residence at HUDA Sai Nagar. At the same time, two chain-snatchers came from opposite direction on a two-wheeler and tried to snatch the chain on her neck.

An alert Anuradha escaped from the clutches of snatchers with minor injuries to her neck. Constables of one of the anti-snatching teams formed by the Hyderabad Police, dressed in civil clothes, were in the area, and tried to intercept the snatchers who were escaping from the scene.

Constable Ravishanker then opened two rounds at the fleeing miscreants, but they escaped and sped towards L B Nagar.

The Vanasthalipuram and L B Nagar police teams have started hunting for the snatchers.

In other incidents, criminals snatched a three-tola gold chain from a woman at HUDA Complex at Saroornagar on Monday, and a chain from another woman's neck at Alwal in Secunderabad.
