Former excise minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao was admitted to a private hospital on Sunday, after he complained of uneasiness due to high blood pressure. Later in the evening, he was discharged from the hospital.
On the 3rd day of CBI custody, on Sunday, Mopidevi complained that he was suffering from breathlessness and uneasiness due to an increase in blood pressure. He was immediately rushed to Care Hospital at Banjara Hills, from Dilkusha Guest House, where he was lodged under CBI custody for questioning.
Mopidevi was arrested on 24 May in the case of YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy's alleged disproportionate assets. He has been charged by the CBI for irregularities in the allotment of lands to the VANPIC project. On the same day, he resigned from the state cabinet.
The CBI special court granted the CBI 5-day custody of Mopidevi till 29 May.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP K Chiranjeevi, infrastructure minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, and endowments minister C Ramchandraiah, called upon the family members of Mopidevi. Later, talking to reporters, Chiranjeevi said that he hoped that Mopidevi would come out clean from all the charges levelled against him by the CBI. (INN)
