Senior film actor Mohan Babu on Saturday slammed what he called a "producers' syndicate".
A few big producers who invest several crores are spoiling the Telugu film industry, he alleged.
"The film industry does not belong to any one individual or a group of people," he said.
He termed those who made high cost films but cheated financiers as "lafoots". He added that he would soon speak to the media on this.
He promised to stand by the small producers. "I will always support and stand by small producers," he said.
It may be mentioned that producer and director Thammareddy Bharadwaj had also slammed the producers' cartel.
Many filmmakers of the Telugu film industry are up in arms against the eleven producers who formed a syndicate with the name "Associated Producers of Telugu Film Industry".(NSS)
