Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a lightning visit to Hyderabad on January 19 to launch various development works worth Rs 2,400 crore related to the South Central Railway, besides flag off a Vande Bharat Express train at Secunderabad.
The developmental works to be launched by the Prime Minister include modernisation of the Secunderabad railway station at a cost of Rs 700 crore, doubling of the railway lines between Secunderabad and Mahbubnagar at a cost of Rs 1,231 crore, and works at the Kazipet railway coach workshop at a cost of Rs 521 crore.
Modi will lay the foundation stone for the modernisation of the Secunderabad railway station to international standards at a cost of Rs 700 crore, and start the Kazipet railway coach overhauling workshop works through remote control.
Disclosing this to mediapersons after holding discussions with officials of the South Central Railway on Monday, Telangana BJP president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay said that he, along with BJP parliamentary party board member and Rajya Sabha member Dr K Laxman, had visited the Secunderabad railway station to oversee arrangements for the Prime Minister's visit.
Bandi said that Modi was uncompromising about protecting the interests of Telangana. "The union government has already taken up national highway development in the State at a cost of Rs 1.04 lakh crore, taking Telangana to the No. 2 position in the country. Similarly, the Centre has sanctioned several railway projects to the State, including doubling of railway lines, and MMTS and gauge conversion projects in a big way. And now, on January 19 the Prime Minister will come to the State to formally flag off a Vande Bharat Express train from Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam, which will reduce the travelling time between the two stations by three-and-a-half hours," he said.
He also said that the road network between the villages and towns was being developed under the PM Sadak Yojana in a big way. Besides, the Modi government had also taken up a river-linkage project, he added.
Later, Bandi and Laxman visited the Secunderabad Parade Grounds to oversee the arrangements for a public meeting of the Prime Minister after launching the various projects.
