MLC Ramulu Naik was suspended from the TRS on Monday.
The party leadership took the decision following complaints against him of indulging in activities against the party interests.
TRS general secretary and Government Whip Palla Rajeshwara Reddy made the announcement in this regard, and official orders are expected shortly.
According to reliable information, Naik has decided to join the Congress. It was reported that he had a meeting with AICC in-charge of Telangana affairs R C Kuntia on Sunday.
It has been learnt that Naik had expected the TRS ticket to contest the Assembly elections for the Narayankhed seat, but the TRS high command gave it to former MLA Bhupal Reddy again, resulting in Naik being disappointed and meeting Kuntia, giving rise to the speculation that he would be joining the Congress.
Annoyed at the suspension, a disgruntled Naik raised a banner of revolt against TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao and slammed him for failing to keep any promises to the tribals and dalits.
"Being a tribal I had to face suspension without any showcause notice, while D Srinivas and Konda Surekha were treated otherwise. No promises have been kept for the welfare of tribals - the reservations have remained elusive, there is no tribal university, and there are no ITDAs in the tribal areas yet. We will teach the TRS a lesson in the upcoming polls," Naik said.
Naik asked the TRS leadership if he was shown the door for demanding reservations for STs. He also said that KCR did not give respect to other leaders in his party, and that the party had no democracy, with the top leadership suppressing the rest. He himself was threatened several times, he claimed.
Naik said that he would decide his future course of action only after discussing with ST leaders and intellectuals.
