MLC Elections: TRS Campaigning Relentlessly

Several TRS leaders today held meetings with the voters of the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar graduates' constituency, and urged them to support the party.

Senior TRS leader and Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao today appealed to the voters in the Vikarabad district headquarters to support the TRS candidate, Surabhi Vani Devi, in the upcoming MLC elections in the graduates' constituency of Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar.

Speaking at a meeting of workers in Vikarabad, along with Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and various local leaders, Rao urged the people not to get taken in by the "false anti-TRS rhetoric" of the Opposition, and appealed to them to support the ruling party.

"When I visited the villages and thandas of Bidar district, in Karnataka, I realised that some women living in the area were facing problems of acute water and power paucity. They told me that their issues were long-standing ones. This is the state of BJP-ruled Karnataka. In Telangana, however, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has made provisions for 24-hour water and power supply to the rural regions of the state. Despite the claims of the Opposition, we are a regime known for our comprehensive welfare schemes. We are committed to inclusive development as is evident. Voting for the TRS will ensure the continued growth and development of the state," he said.

The minister, who has been on a campaigning spree, also reminded the voters of the BJP-led Centre's "failure" of generating employment, and said, "Instead of providing 12 crore jobs as it had promised, the Modi government is busy hiking fuel prices. Then why does it expect the people of the state to vote for it in the upcoming elections? Unlike the BJP, we work for our people, and so will our candidate, Surabhi Vani Devi."

"Vani Devi has been an educationist and an intellectual. She is well-equipped to address the grievances of the graduates and the youth of the state, and will be an able, service-oriented leader," he added.

Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy also expressed her support for Vani Devi.

She slammed the BJP for "burdening" the people of the nation with the steep hike in fuel prices, and assured the people of the state that the TRS would not "desert" them like the Centre had, and would always work for their welfare.

Reddy then urged them to support Vani Devi in the elections.

Deputy speaker of the Telangana Assembly, T Padma Rao Goud, was also seen campaigning hard for the TRS at a meet in Secunderabad's Sitaphalmandi area, today.

Rubbishing the "false charges" made by the BJP and the Congress against the TRS of "lying" about employment generation in the state, he said that the KCR government would fill 50,000 vacant government job posts after the conclusion of the elections.

Goud encouraged the people of the capital to vote for the TRS candidate in the MLC elections, and said that she would work tirelessly towards their welfare.

The TRS has been treating the upcoming elections as a matter of prestige as it has reportedly been left unsettled by the BJP's recent rise in popularity in the state.
