Hitting out at the BJP regime at the Centre for deserting the poor in order to prop up the country's large corporate companies by increasing fuel charges, Telangana Electricity Minister G Jagadish Reddy today said that the people of the state would reject the BJP's candidates in the upcoming MLC elections in the graduates' constituencies of Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam and Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting at Suryapet, he accused the two rivals of the TRS of doing nothing for the state, and only indulging in "misinformation campaigns" against the state government for "political mileage".
"Although the Opposition itself does nothing for the state, it constantly faults our government for also ignoring the welfare of our people. However, everyone knows that such claims are nothing but lies. The Opposition should know that the TRS will win the upcoming MLC elections despite all the best efforts of the former to mislead the voters. The people of Telangana will support our party for bringing welfare and development to the state," the minister said.
"Unlike the BJP, under whose rule the common man is facing a fate of utter economic disempowerment, the KCR regime has continually tried to empower its people in every way possible. Today, the BJP's leaders are accusing our government of neglecting the people. However, their own party's union government has sacrificed the interest of the people to support the big corporates of the country. Under Modi's rule, the income of Adani has increased 700 times and Ambani's by 370%. On the other hand, the poor are unable to even make two ends meet due to the soaring prices of essential commodities," he added.
He then expressed his appreciation for the government employees (a key voter group) in the state, saying, "The employees play a key role in executing the welfare schemes and development programs brought in by the state government. It is with their active involvement and support that we are able to implement the schemes successfully."
"Our government, whose two eyes are development and welfare, is also able to reach out to even the most marginalised sections of society due to the untiring efforts of its employees. Realising their key role in developing Telangana and its people, the TRS' candidates, if elected, will work to address all the problems faced by the employees," he added.
Urging the voters of the graduates' constituencies to vote pink, the minister once again promised them that the party's candidates would fight to resolve all the problems being faced by the people.
