The Returning Officer for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar teachers' MLC constituency and GHMC Special Commissioner, Navin Mittal, on Thursday informed candidates in the fray for elections that they should stop campaigning by 4pm on March 11th, 2011, 48 hours before the conclusion of voting.
Navin Mittal also informed that no person shall convene, hold or attend, and join or address any public meeting or procession in connection with the election, or display to the public any election matter by means of cinematograph, television or other similar apparatus, or propagate any election matter to be public by holding, or by arranging the holding of musical concert or theatrical performance, or any other entertainment or amusement with a view to attracting the members of the public thereto, in any polling area, during the period of 48 hours on the cited date.
"Any person who contravenes will either have to pay a fine, or will be imprisoned for a term up to 2 years," he informed.
He further added,"No campaign shall take place within the constituency in the presence of political functionaries/party workers/processions/campaign functionaries etc., who have been brought from outside the constituency. People who are not voters of the constituency should leave, as their continued presence after the campaign (and before the voting ends) may undermine the atmosphere for free and fair poll."
