Sixteen ABVP activists and two policemen miraculously escaped a road accident near Khairatabad in Hyderabad when a Sub-Inspector escorting the protestors in a DCM van jumped off it and tactfully controlled it.
A home guard Ramesh was driving the DCM with ABVP protestors towards the Banjara Hills police station, when he suddenly suffered fits, resulting in the van hitting a road divider in Khairatabad. Sub-Inspector Karunakar Reddy, who was also travelling in the van, then courageously jumped off it and tactfully brought it under control, saving the lives of the protestors.
Reddy and constable Sai Kumar suffered minor injuries. The injured cops and van driver Ramesh were admitted to a nearby private hospital.
Earlier, when ABVP protestors were proceeding towards the Chief Minister's official residence Pragathi Bhavan, the police stopped them and herded them into the DCM, and sent it to the Banjara Hills police station.
