In a shocking incident, a minor boy from Hyderabad today committed suicide by hanging himself. The incident took place under the limits of the Kukatpally police station.
According to the details revealed by police, the victim has been identified as 12-year-old Manikanta. He was an eighth-standard student enrolled at a private school.
The child had been alone at home at the time of the incident. He had been attending online classes. After realising that something was amiss, locals called the police who rushed to the spot to find that the boy had hanged himself.
The police have said that they found that he had been playing a video game before he committed suicide.
Reports also say that the child took the drastic step after he was reprimanded for playing games on his mobile phone by his family, which his parents had bought for him so he could attend online classes.
It is being said that Manikanta's parents had confiscated his phone after they found that he had been playing PUBG, a popular video game, on it instead of listening to his classes, and that this had upset the boy as he had gotten addicted to the game over the past few months.
The local police have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident.
