Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members, led by K Yerrannaidu, met Governor ESL Narasimhan on Thursday and urged him to take action against the allotment of white granite quarry mines of Kannedhara Konda to revenue minister Dharmana Prasad Rao's son Ram Manohar Naidu.
Submitting a memorandum to the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Yerrannaidu urged Narasimhan to direct the State government to immediately cancel the lease agreement.
The TDP leader also appealed to the Governor to suspend the minister from the cabinet for violating rules and regulations in allotment of mines to his son and for misusing his official position.
Condemning the statement of Dharmana's son that there was no farm land at the quarry site, the TDP leaders said the tribals had been given pattas in Survey No. 289 in Seetampeta and Kotturu mandals, and about 600 tribals were given pattas in 920 centres in 3 phases at Puliputti village and surroundings.
Yerrannaidu alleged that the revenue authorities and the mines officials gave the no-objection certificate despite knowing that there were farm lands in the site.
