MIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi and four legislators of his Party including his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi were acquitted by the Sangareddy court today in a case related to the demolition of a mosque eleven years ago.
The Owaisi brothers, Ahmed Pasha Qadri, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and Muazzam Khan (MIM legislators) were acquitted of all charges by the court in the Muthangi Masjid demolition case.
It may be recalled that the five MIM leaders were booked by the police on March 16, 2005, for obstructing officials from demolishing a mosque to facilitate road extension at Muthangi village.
Owaisi had surrendered before the court on January 21, 2013, and was sent to jail after the court dismissed his petition for the cancellation of the non-bailable warrant pending against him. He was granted bail later and released.
Reacting to the acquittal by the court, Asaduddin Owaisi sought to know if the Congress, which was in power back then in united Andhra Pradesh, would offer an apology for launching the case.
