Animal Husbandry And Dairy Development Minister P Vishwarupu, on Monday, said that the state government would take steps to maintain transparency in the supply of milk.
Talking to media persons after launching Milkosoft, a software aimed to achieve integrated processes across the dairy value chain, at the conference hall in the state Secretariat, Vishwarupu lauded the Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited for providing quality milk to consumers.
He said that Milkosoft would significantly cut down the transactional costs, and benefit rural farmers and urban consumers, and also increase transparency, "giving no room for suspicion".
Vishwarupu said that the software would serve the milk needs of the twin cities, and also help deliver milk at consumers' doorsteps on time.
APDDCFL managing director Mohd. Ali Rafat said that the federation was providing 3.60 lakh litres of milk per day as against the demand of 12 lakh litres in the city.
Stating that the federation was procuring 7-8 lakh litres of milk from farmers per day, he said that a Rs. 1.43 crore profit has been achieved this financial year out of a turnover of Rs. 400 crore.
