Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said that Telangana was producing 162.68 lakh litres of milk every day.
Replying to questions raised by the members in the state Assembly during question hour on the issue of the development of the dairy industry in the state, the minister said that the annual turnover of the state-owned Vijaya Dairy had reached Rs. 750 crore.
He also said that the government was giving Rs. 4 per litre as incentives to the dairy farmers, and had also handed over mobile vehicles to them, and launched the milch cattle scheme for their convenience.
The government had also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a mega dairy at Ravirala village in Maheswararam mandal of Ranga Reddy district, and the cost of the project would be Rs. 246.25 crore, Talasani added. In addition, the government was also making plans for the expansion of Vijaya Dairy, he said.
The minister added that the government had also set up veterinary hospitals, and was in addition also distributing the requisite medicines to the dairy farmers.
The minister told the House that the government would take all possible steps for the all-round development of the dairy industry, and that mandal committees would be set up to achieve the goal.
The government would also extend cooperation to cooperative dairies, he added.
